Teenager Luke Littler achieved a nine-dart finish in the opening leg as he beat Nathan Aspinall 6-3 in their Bahrain Masters quarter-final.
He is just the second player to throw a nine-darter in the World Series, after 16-time world champion Phil Taylor.
England’s Littler was beaten in the PDC World Championship final by Luke Humphries earlier this month.
“It’s good to get a nine-darter on TV and the first one of the year goes to me,” Littler told ITV4.
“I don’t think about losing. I just think about winning.”
Littler will face Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals after the Welshman beat Humphries 6-4, ending the new world champion’s 20-match winning streak.
Michael Smith made easy work of his last-eight tie by cruising to a 6-1 victory against Peter Wright and will take on either Michael van Gerwen or Rob Cross in the other semi-final.
